This lesson discusses the very famous half time shuffle and how to go about putting the groove together with its different variations.
The groove is based on triplets and has a key difference from a regular shuffle in that the back beat or snare is on beat 3 instead of beats 2 and 4. This makes the feel cut in half. The other thing about this particular half time shuffle is that we’re using the basic sticking of RLL and splitting it between the Hi Hat and the snare drum. The left hand is ghosting or being very quiet and the right hand is in charge of playing the pulse and also the back beat on the beat 3 on the snare. Check out the lesson for how to get grooving! Hope you enjoy!
